Why do you keep dying in Fortnite? Now you'll know.

AI verdict

WhyIDied is a Fortnite AI coach for Windows. It auto-records every death, explains the exact mistake that caused it, and tracks the ones you keep repeating — no clip uploads, no VOD scrubbing.

Verdict: peeked into a held angle with 43 mats and no wall. Reset, wall up, re-peek right.
How it works

Play normally. Your coach already watched.

You die repeatedly to the same 2–3 mistakes — you just never see the pattern, because nobody reviews your deaths. WhyIDied reviews every single one, automatically.

01 / CAPTURE

Every death, auto-recorded

A silent background buffer keeps your last 60 seconds. Die, and the clip saves itself — synced with Fortnite's own match replay data.

02 / DIAGNOSE

AI finds the real mistake

Not "you got shot." The causal error — the peek, the rotate, the fight you never should have taken — with the exact timestamp.

Recurring mistakes become your weakness profile, your daily drill plan, and — as the bars drop — proof you're actually improving.

What a death report looks like

Every analysis cites the moment, the mistake, and the better play. Here are three deaths you've definitely died.

8:31Won first shot — opponent 42 HP
8:36Opponent boxes up, holds right-hand angle
8:42You peek left — full body exposed, no wall
8:43Pump — 194. Eliminated.
Primary mistake

Unprotected left-hand peek

You had the HP lead and gave it away by peeking into a held angle with zero cover. The opponent never had to aim — you walked into their crosshair.

Better play: reset the wall, shift one tile, re-peek from the protected right side.

11:3836s in open fight — zero surge scan
11:41Third player beams you from unwatched flank

Primary mistake

Overtime fight, no third-party check

The fight was winnable at 15 seconds. Past 30, in an open POI, someone is always rotating to the noise — and you never looked.

Better play: 30-second rule — win by then or disengage, and scan flanks between edits.
⟲ 3rd time this week
14:10Zone 4 closing — you're full loot, low ground
14:55You loot two more chests instead of rotating
15:30Forced rotate through 3 teams' sightlines
15:44Tagged twice, stormed. Eliminated.
Primary mistake

Late rotation for loot you didn't need

You were already full. The extra 40 seconds of looting converted a free rotate into a fighting retreat through the entire lobby.

Better play: rotate on first zone tick when you're loot-complete. Early = free. Late = taxed.

Not a cheat. Not even close.

Built to keep your account — and the game — clean. Everything happens after the match, from data that's already yours.

Zero game tampering

No injection, no memory reading, no packet sniffing. WhyIDied never touches the Fortnite process — it records your own screen the same way OBS does.

Post-match only

No live overlays, no in-match assistance, nothing that touches real-time game state. Coaching starts when the match ends — tournament-safe by design.

Your data, your call

Clips stay local by default. Mic off by default. Delete any clip, or everything, anytime. Your footage never trains AI models without your separate, explicit consent.

FPS is sacred

Hardware-encoder capture, zero work during fights, analysis after death. We'll publish our frame-rate benchmarks — if it cost you frames, we'd uninstall it too.

FAQ

Questions you're right to ask

What is WhyIDied?
WhyIDied is a Fortnite AI coach for Windows that automatically records the last ~60 seconds before every death, uses AI to explain the exact mistake that caused it, and tracks which mistakes you keep repeating so you can actually fix them. No clip uploads, no VOD scrubbing — it watches so you don't have to.
Why do I keep dying in Fortnite?
Almost always: the same 2–3 recurring mistakes — unprotected peeks, late rotations, fights taken without mats or high ground. You don't notice the pattern because nobody reviews your deaths. WhyIDied reviews all of them and shows you the recurring cause with video evidence and a timestamp.
Is this a cheat? Will it get me banned?
No. WhyIDied never touches the Fortnite process: no injection, no memory reading, no overlays, nothing live during a match. It records your own screen using the same Windows capture system streamers use, and reads the local replay files Fortnite already saves on your PC. Everything happens after the match.
How does it actually know why I died?
Two sources, combined: video of your final 60 seconds, and structured match data from Fortnite's own replay file (positions, storm, damage, materials). A multimodal AI reviews both, finds the causal mistake — not just the last five seconds — and cites the timestamp. Every diagnosis feeds your weakness history, so patterns surface across games.
Will it hurt my FPS?
Capture runs on your GPU's hardware encoder — the same path Shadowplay uses — and analysis runs after you die, never during a fight. Performance is a launch requirement: we'll publish benchmarks, and if the numbers aren't clean we don't ship.
What will it cost?
A genuinely useful free tier at launch. Pro is planned at $14.99/month — and the first 500 waitlist founders lock $9.99/month for as long as they stay subscribed.
What happens to my recordings?
Clips stay on your PC by default; only short evidence around analyzed deaths is uploaded, encrypted, with retention limits. Delete any clip or your whole account anytime. Mic capture is off by default, and your footage is never used to train AI models without separate, explicit consent. WhyIDied is for players 13+.
Return to lobby?

Or find out why you keep going back to it.

Early access rolls out to the waitlist first — founders lock $9.99/mo Pro for life.
